As soon as the Blood Angels arrived at the head of the Imperial Expedition it was clear that the situation on Manzikert was dire. Tyranid lifeforms roamed across the majority of the planet and only a few pockets of resistance remained. It was clear that working with the remaining forces would be key to standing any chance of eradicating the swarm.
However the Blood Angels also had a secondary objective. Rumour persisted that the Equitorial Jungles of Manzikert contained rare flora and fauna which may be key to understanding and curing the Blood Angels curse. These would have to be secured at all costs before the Tyranids devoured them all.
