Manzikert had been of some interest to the Tau for some time. This was due to the exotic regenerative properties of the local flora and fauna. With a hidden research base established deep in the Jungles of Manzikert the Tau had been conducting experiments of their own.
The arrival of the Hive Fleet however took the Tau completely by surprise. They would now have to secure their years of research and then make a swift exit from the doomed planet before is completely consumed,
